Hesai Technology just announced it was selected to supply lidar units for multiple models of SAIC Motor Commercial Vehicle Division OEM-installed projects. Hesai will equip the new models with its automotive-grade ultra-high-resolution long-range AT128 lidar.
These design wins are part of a strategic collaboration between Hesai and SAIC Commercial Vehicle Division to develop new intelligent technologies for product implementations that target consumers.
UTOPILOT, a technology company within the SAIC Group, focuses on intelligent driving solutions for commercial vehicle. The company inherits the accumulated knowledge of SAIC in intelligent driving, supply chain, and commercial operations. Hesai and UTOPILOT collaborated in 2021 to integrate the high-performance lidar Pandar Series into the L4 intelligent heavy duty truck. The L4 has been semi-commercially operating at Shanghai Yangshan Port since 2022, with over 100,000 standard container transports.
UTOPILOT fully utilized its full-stack self-developed intelligent technology, as well as the industry supply chain, for this SAIC collaboration. The “Honghu”, a self-developed intelligent driving platform, is equipped with multiple sensor that provides perception safety redundancy as well as a complete decision-making database for different scenarios. The “Honghu’ platform is also already installed in SAIC commercial vehicle models. Hesai will use its AT128 Lidar for the first time in SAIC commercial vehicle models. This lidar provides key perception data to these intelligent driving systems.
Hesai AT128 is a long-range, automotive-grade lidar with ultra-high-resolution. AT128’s 128 independent VCSEL transmitters can achieve 1,53 million datapoints per second, and a detection distance of 200 meters. The ultra-high resolution of its point cloud sets the standard for the industry. AT128 is in mass production since 2022 and has already enabled intelligent driving functions for several ADAS series-production vehicles.
Hesai, a global leader of lidar solutions for many years, has been providing reliable and safe lidar products. It has hundreds of patents in the world and set industry records for lidar integration and functional safety. Hesai’s innovative products and technology have earned it the trust of many OEMs and autonomous vehicle companies around the world. It has won contracts for millions of lidars.
This collaboration shows the rapid development of autonomous driving technologies and the implementation multi-scene applications. Both parties will deepen their expertise and work together to promote the automotive industry towards an intelligent and automated future.
