The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada announced today that the Mitsubishi Outlander was named the “Best Midsize Utility Vehicle in Canada for 2023”. The Outlander, which has been completely redesigned and reengineered recently, is the company’s flagship. It delivers safety, confidence performance, and striking, unique appearance both from the outside and inside.
AJAC journalists, which collectively make up the most respected group of professional automotive media professionals in Canada, submitted over 1700 ballots during almost a full calendar year. The 2023 Award program, which is based on vehicles that have been redesigned and refreshed in recent years, only accepted ballots from AJAC journalists. Professional journalists tested entries on the same roads as Canadian drivers, in the same conditions.
Today, the Montreal International Auto Show announced the winner of the category. The finalist group consisted of three vehicles from each of the 12 categories. The Mitsubishi Outlander has been named the Best Mid-Size Utility Vehicle of Canada and is now in the running for the title of 2023 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the year. This honour will be announced at the opening ceremonies of the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, February 16, 2023.
The Outlander is the most well-equipped Mitsubishi vehicle ever sold in Canada. It offers a wide range of standard and optional advanced driver assistance systems that increase safety, convenience and driver confidence.
The all-new Outlander’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine is mated with a Continuously Variable Transmission. This vehicle has a 9.7 (City) fuel economy and a 7.9 (Highway) fuel economy.
Mitsubishi’s rally-derived Super All-Wheel Control is standard in the base trim. The six drive modes allow drivers to adjust the electronic-controlled AWD system in six different ways, making it easier for drivers to feel more confident on all roads.
The all-new Outlander is powered by an upgraded twin-motor AWD (114HP front and 134HP back motors). S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control), provides ideal longitudinal torque distribution control, ensuring safety, security and comfort on all roads.
A larger drive battery and a larger fuel tank provide longer range. The electric-only range has been extended to 61 km, while the overall range has been extended to 687 km with both the gasoline engine as well as twin electric motors.
Families can rest assured knowing that a variety of safety and driver assistance features are standard from the base, including Forward Collision Mitigation(FCM), Rear Automatic EmergencyBraking, Blind Spot Warning/BSW, Lane Departure Warning/LDW), Driver Attention Alert/DAA (DAA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert/RCTA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), Hill Descent Control/HDC), Trailer Stability Assist/TSA, and a class-leading 11 Air Bags
The 2023 Outlander PHEV comes with the industry’s best warranties: a 10-year/160,000 km powertrain limited warranty; a 5-year/100,000-km new car limited warranty; and a 5-year/unlimited mileage program of roadside assistance.
